About Us

The Bear Klaw snow hook was developed after spending a winter in Unalakleet, Alaska. While there I had the opportunity to go mushing with an avid mushing friend of mine, Rick Holt. Rick was training to run in the 2008 Iditarod and during one of our conversations he mentioned how hard it was to find a good snow hook.

After returning to my home in Oregon, I started making test hooks and sending them back to Rick in Alaska. He would test each hook and offer his input on how the hook could be improved. Rick Holt and his team. Unalakleet Alaska. Finally, after many test hooks I developed a hook that was light weight, extremely strong, and easy to remove under strain. This exceptional hook became known as The Bear Klaw.

Grinding snow hooks     I continue to hand make and inspect each hook myself. After inspection the hooks are powder coated to prevent rusting. What sets the Bear Klaw apart from another snow hooks on the market is the fact that it has been designed to be lightweight while remaining very strong. The Bear Klaw weighs just 2 lbs. 7 oz. and is manufactured out of tough "T-1" tool steel. This gives the hook strength and an extreme bite, allowing it to withstand strain without bending. The Bear Klaw’s unique arc and rounded handle make it easily removable, even while the team is pulling.

As word about The Bear Klaw spreads so does the number of mushers using it. I am so sure that you will like the hook that I offer a money-back guarantee for all my hooks. If you have any problem, simply return it for a full refund.
